Over the past few weeks, there’s been a real buzz among Rangers fans online — could Red Bull really become the next main shirt sponsor at Ibrox?
The rumour mill went into overdrive following whispers that 49ers Enterprises, the group in talks to purchase a majority stake in Rangers, is exploring commercial opportunities that could see Red Bull replace Kindred Group (the people behind 32Red and Unibet) as the name across our famous shirts.
Let’s break it down.
The Red Bull Links to Rangers Are There

There are some tantalising dots to connect. Red Bull already has a tie to Leeds United — another club backed by 49ers Enterprises — and Rangers’ incoming Sporting Director, Kevin Thelwell, previously worked with the New York Red Bulls. That’s more than just coincidence.
But as of now, there’s no confirmation from either Red Bull or the club. So while it’s fun to imagine the Red Bull logo sitting beneath the Lion Rampant, we’re still firmly in speculation territory.
The Kindred Commitment Made by Rangers
Here’s the kicker: Rangers only recently extended our partnership with Kindred Group in a record-breaking deal that runs until 2029. The financial boost was significant — up 80% from the previous deal. Unibet now graces the first-team kits, and 32Red remains visible on training and warm-up gear.
That’s not the sort of deal you just rip up. If Red Bull were to come in as a main sponsor, it would require major negotiation — and compensation. That means big bucks to break the existing contract.

What’s More Likely for Now?
This is where things get interesting. Red Bull has a track record of playing the long game — easing into clubs before going all-in. Think LED boards, stadium signage, concourse branding, maybe even becoming the official energy drink partner to start with.
This kind of incremental influence makes sense. It wouldn’t disrupt the Kindred deal, but would allow Red Bull to begin building brand equity at Ibrox, setting the stage for a bigger move down the line if the stars align.
Maybe Naming Rights at Auchenhowie – Rangers Training Centre?

Renaming the Rangers Training Centre (currently at Auchenhowie) to something like Red Bull Performance Centre would fit their global model (similar to Red Bull Bragantino in Brazil or their Red Bull Training Centers in the U.S. and Europe).
So, Should Fans Get Excited?
We’d say: cautiously optimistic. A full Red Bull takeover of the shirt sponsorship isn’t on the cards tomorrow — but a gradual presence around the club? That feels more than plausible.
And hey, we all know how quickly things can move in football. If the 49ers Enterprises group is serious about reshaping the commercial future of Rangers, Red Bull might just give us the wings to do it.
